There is no question “if” there is climate change occurring. The question has to become, “What are we going to do about it”?
It is evident by the 90 and 100 degree heat. It is evident by the summer drought conditions and the increasingly violent weather that we are seeing worldwide.
We need to protect and cherish our planet so there will be a habitable environment for our future generations. Some ways that we can assure this to be the case is to buy into green building principles, new enviro-friendly products(such as Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs) and personal practices like recycling . We should also sign protocols like Kyoto and work with the global community on C02 emmissions reduction.
I have a plan to make the state of North Carolina the leading producer in alternative energies. Bringing together farmers, the alternative energy companies and using the empty mills to refine and produce alternative fuels. This will help break our dependence on foreign oil, make the farms once again profitable and put back to work those effected by the effects of NAFTA and CAFTA.
