The current Administration keeps saying "Stay the Course". I say "Change the Course!" Our current foreign policy has broken alliances that we have had for years around the globe. We do have to protect our nation. We need to do it without sacrificing the essential civil rights that make us Americans. In no way is "bombing countries into Democracy" ever going to work. Diplomacy is the answer.
We were once the role model for other countries. With Gitmo and Abu Ghraib we are no longer any better then the world around us.
We need to repair our alliances with the global community and regain our worldly position as a role model.
We need to bring our men and women home from Iraq. We have no business being there. Our country was founded fighting against the British oppressors and we cannot expect anything different from others when we occupy a sovereign nation that needs to solve their own problems.
I don't support the war in Iraq, but let me make it really clear that I do support the troops. So much that I have a draft for a Military Health Care Reform package ready to go.
