Jay on Healthcare
There is no reason why any American should ever have to choose between medication and food for their family. Under no circumstances should you ever have to cut pills in half because you need to make them stretch. There is no reason that the richest country in the world should have so many people without access to health care. The answer is single-payer Universal Health Care. We can pay for this by repealing the tax cut for the richest 2% of Americans and by raising taxes on corporations that send more then 25% of their workforce overseas.
We need to do better job with supporting our Veterans health issues. The VA Heath Care system is simply broken and beyond repair. Our Veterans should not have to wait for months to be seen or have to travel hundreds of miles to the nearest VA hospital. They should be allowed to go to private health care practitioners and private hospitals to receive treatment in a timely fashion under conditions that are clean and up to date. As these patriots have put their lives on the line for our country, the least we can do is insure that their health care issues are taken care of for themselves and their families. Currently they, at best, have sub-par standard facilities and waits of over three months on average to be seen. These heroes deserve the best health care available for fighting for the freedoms we cherish in this country. Their health care should be handed to them on a silver platter, check paid by the US Government.
